Plastic has revolutionised and become part of our everyday life.. It’s cheap, light, durable, flexible, convenient and used for so many applications! But what happens to these plastic products when we no longer need them? How are we managing our plastic waste?
The average Australian throws away approximately 100kg of plastic per year with 50 percent of it being single use plastic (we use once and throw away). And only 5% to 8% of this is recycled. Plastic is making its way INTO our environment, our water, our air, our food and bodies.
In June 2021, WA Government announced it was fast tracking its WA plan for Plastic. What’s your plan to move towards a more sustainable future with less plastics?
So please join us our workshop and discussion as we journey through the history of plastic, our excessive plastic production, the recycling challenges and how WE CAN move towards a more sustainable future, during our workshops “Plastics: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly” .
This workshop is kindly brought to you by City of Melville.
